Specialty: I specialise in disaster resilience, disaster risk reduction and sustainable development practices and principles. I work with clients to help them understand their risk, as well as the chronic shocks and acute stresses, that impact their operations and their ability to bounce back from natural hazards. Building a stronger understanding of the compounding and cascading impacts of disaster help them be proactive about how they prepare, respond to and recovery from a disaster event.
Experience: After studying architecture in my undergraduate, I became interested in urban resilience, climate change adaptation and post disaster reconstruction. I decided to study for my Masters degree in disaster resilience and sustainable development. The program helped me develop best practice knowledge and skills to implement international disaster risk reduction and resilience frameworks for the private and public sector. I have hands-on experience working on post disaster recovery projects in southeast NSW after the 2019/20 bushfires. Nearly 18 months after the bushfires, I was working with an international NGO that was focussing on building temporary accommodation and water, sanitation and hygiene facilities for community members that have been impacted by the event. After that, I joined the ResilientCo team and have applied my experience and knowledge across a wide variety of projects.
Favourite music era: ABBA :-)
What do you like most about working at ResilientCo with your clients? I love the diversity of projects that we get to work on and the clients we get to work with. There are a lot of opportunities in this field to develop new ways of tackling challenges and creating a more resilient society. It is great working with proactive people who are willing to put in the work to enhance the capability and capacity to support communities during an emergency. The team at ResilientCo are pretty great as well!
