Emergency resilience planning

Working at the community level delivering resilience building programs is one of our favourite things to do.

We’ve partnered with the team at City of Greater Geelong who’ve received funding from Emergency Recovery Victoria to enhance organisational and community resilience to emergencies as a result of recent flooding events.

The program includes the design and delivery of facilitated emergency planning sessions at five key locations: Anakie, Lara, North Geelong, Bellarine, and four caravan parks located on the Barwon River. These communities were all impacted significantly by recent flooding events.

The sessions incorporate an introductory overview of emergencies and include the completion of a tailored Personal Emergency Management Plan developed by Council staff. Participants then test their completed plan in an exercise scenario.

Our approach includes working closely with the City of Greater Geelong and agencies over February to June 2024 to build on organisational capacity in the training and delivery space. Such a fantastic team to be working alongside with a demonstrated willingness to support their communities.

Team members Michelle Richards, John Deering and Laura Buchanan are delivering the sessions in partnership with council and agencies.
