Municipal Secondary Impact Assessment (SIA) is the important process undertaken by Councils to determine the impact of an emergency on the affected community. It assists in the development of detailed, evidence-based recovery planning.
The Wimmera Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) recently engaged ResilientCo to deliver a SIA training program that covered:
Victorian EM Arrangements
SIA purpose and functions
SIA roles and responsibilities
Caring for yourself and others
A practical scenario exercise assigning roles, teams, conducting SIA’s and logging assessment data into CrisisWorks
The training was completed by 19 participants and provided a valuable opportunity to test the Wimmera MEMPC SIA Operating Procedure.
Thanks to our Director and DisasterSmart Lead Michelle Richards for her expertise and leadership in our Council capability and capacity building arm.
This is a practical training program that is getting a lot of interest. If you’d like to know more, drop us a line hello@resilientco.au
