Our team had the opportunity to present a poster at the Australian Disaster Resilience Conference in August telling the story of the small community of Millgrove and their community resilience building journey.
Millgrove is a fire and flood prone community in the Yarra Valley that participated in a trial taking them through an engagement process called the Six-Step Future Ready Communities Model supporting their community-led planning.
Now, with a little seed funding from the Minderoo Foundation and support from ResilientCo, they are implementing the 9 priorities developed by the Millgrove Residents Action Group with input from the broader community.
They have been able to engage a project coordinator, have received funding for a defibrillator for the local fire station, support for a light show designed to bring their community together and are working with a couple of corporate partners on some of their larger priorities.
