The importance of community knowledge and connection in emergencies came through loud and clear in interviews with Gannawarra Shire community members.
ABC Country Hour explores the response to the flood emergency around Benjeroop and Murrabit West in particular, how the community supported itself, connected into emergency services and used local flood and infrastructure knowledge to reduce the impact.
These community members were active participants in this emergency, and continue to support each other. Some have only just gotten access to their homes, almost three months after the flood emergency began.
