Climate Change and Emergency Management

Climate change presents an evolving challenge for governments, organisations and communities. Climate-related hazards often lead to complex and cascading risks that make people and systems more vulnerable.

The changing climate landscape requires an understanding of systems and interdependencies and the development of robust adaptation strategies.

We are currently supporting a group of councils focussed on embedding climate change projections and aligned actions within their emergency management arrangements and organisations.

We’ve supported this project through a deep dive into challenges and opportunities leading to the development of guidance documents looking at best practice strategies, case studies and initiatives and scenario planning to enhance emergency risk assessment processes by incorporating future societal and environmental changes projection driven by climate change.

This project calls on both our emergency management experience as well as our focus on resilience and sustainability and alongside enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed council teams has been a pleasure for our team to work on.
