More than 60 people have attended a large scale exercise focussing on emergency relief centre activation delivered in partnership with Campaspe Shire Council.

Community, Council and other agencies, such as Fire Rescue Victoria, State Emergency Services, Victoria Police, Department of Agriculture, Victorian Council of Churches Emergency Ministry, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and Emergency Recovery Victoria worked together to test the current response procedures to an emergency through the activation of an Emergency Relief Centre.

Exercise Yalka is the culmination of a large body of work ResilientCo has undertaken to assist Council in its work to strengthen the Shire’s community’s resilience in the face of future shocks and stresses by providing emergency relief during events.

The key deliverables of the project included:

  • Co-design Workshop

  • Introduction to Emergency Management training with David Younger

  • Introduction to Emergency Relief training

  • Rewrite ERC Operational Guidelines and SoP’s

  • Testing the ERC Operational Guidelines including the site-specific review of infrastructure, ensuring buildings are fit for purpose with recommendations for improvement, alternate sites.

  • Large Scale ERC Exercise

We thank Campaspe Shire Council for their ongoing commitment and dedication to supporting not only their staff, but also their communities.
